Then there's the fact that two commanders they kept pushing were never released, and the few commanders that were actually useful (and more importantly thematic) were razed to the ground with nerfs well after they had been on sale (Elite Forces, Soviet Industry, and I forget the US one). generally I wouldn't cache the points much in 1v1, it is very strong in XvX games because everyone benefits from one players payment. We were still only able to field light artillery, the Long Tom and 88 mysteriously absent. Commanders are where you would expect the more unique units to come into play like the 105mm Motor Gun Carriage (for the US), or the Karl Gerat for the Germans, but no - instead this is where they locked signature units like the Pershing, IS-2, KV-2, and Tiger. Look at the minimap and unit bar no less than once every 10 seconds (I recommend 5). You should see troop movement on the minimap and react to it. The minimap is the other key information gathering tool. When you see a squad is in combat on the bar you press the number that corresponds to it twice and now you can tell it what to do. It tells you a lot of squad specific information. The unit bar at the top right will tell you if a unit is in combat or suppressed or idle or in cover. There are 2 ways to keep track of units that aren't on your screen. This will help you react when you notice something happening.
